yupdate

Well, despite the wedding being over, life has not yet calmed down to a reasonable pace... not that I really expected it would, but it has been just as nuts.

My grad class through PSU (Earth & Space science) is hard and she gives us a lot of work to do. Seriously. Being that I am accustomed to doing a lot of work and thinking it normal, she must REALLY be pushing us for me to think it is a lot. It really is. This Friday we have to re-write a USGS fact sheet in our own words using our own research and later than 2002 sources. It was originally due, um, tomorrow... but fortunately she pushed it back because people were having issues doing the THREE other assignments (all related to earthquake data over the past 30 years and creating graphs, then analyzing the data) and participating in the class discussion along with a group discussion. Yeah.

The weekend was good though. On Friday night, we ended up going out with my parents, my brother, and his pseudo-girlfriend to Shady Maple. I think I would vomit if I had to work there. Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins for a reason people! Speaking of deadly, a woman a few rows down passed out or maybe had some kind of mini seizure or stroke or heart attack or something. The paramedics came. She wasn't fat, just elderly. Fortunately, she was okay and within a half hour was sitting upright at her table again with the addition of some bed-head from laying on the floor. I felt bad for her... but I bet that stuff happens at Shady Maple all the time. In fact, I am surprised my dad did not keel over after his dinner of chicken livers. Bleh.

On Sat... I did some work in the morning on my comps stuff. Then Jon and I went to the dog show. Now, I have never been to a dog show, and I was hoping it would be sort of like the movie Best In Show. Trust me, I was not disappointed. Overall, it was really fun, and there were some beautiful dogs there. We stuck around long enough to see the Bernese Mountain dogs, which are the long-haired cousin of the Greater Swiss Mountain dog that Jon wants. We also got to play with two of them, and they were sweethearts. :) My mom, Chris, and Lisa joined us and we walked around for a bit. We also got to see a Bull Terrier attack a Bernese Mountain dog. Holy COW was that scary! Everyone was screaming and telling them to kick the Bull in the hind legs. I was pleased to see that the Bernese was not into the fight. It was defending himself, but overall it just wanted to get away. They are supposed to be awesome family dogs, and that was proof enough for me, along with watching a little girl of about 5 rub her hands all up and down another dog while he sat placidly by.

On Sat night, I met up with the girls from work and we went to Helium Comedy Club for Kelly's bachelorette party. Adam Ferrara was the headliner, but I have to admit I liked the guy on before him - Paul Lyons. Lyons is in his late 40s, and I think age and experience lend a lot to comedy. Ferrara was not overly raunchy, which I was glad for, but Lyons was even less so. Lyons had a bit more physical comedy going on than Ferrara, but I did not mind that so much. Either way, it was a fun night. Afterwards, I went to Joshs to meet up with him and Jon and Josh made me pancakes. WHEE!

Sunday morning I had to get up early and go to West Chester to meet with my study group for my comps. YIKES THIS SAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about extremely frightening. Actually, after I chatted with them for 3 hours, I felt immensely better. So much so that I took the afternoon off. Jon and I went to Marsh Creek to see if we could hike to the tree that Jon put our initials in in 12th grade. :) We couldn't, but we at least got some fresh air and Vitamin D. After that, we hung out at my parent's house for awhile, then went home. THEN we went to the first Reverb rehearsal at chez Datsko. It was a good time and so wonderful to see everyone again. We have two newbies right now, but I think they will be assimilated in short order. :) Jon and I got home around 8:45. He watched Family Guy while I desperately tried to finish Brisingr (it is tormenting me, I can barely do any other work because I want to read it all the time) and then we watched our wedding ceremony video.

The strange thing about the ceremony video is that watching it gave me butterflies. Jon felt that he was unexpressive. I would tend to agree. He was like, "I smiled more than that!" But the proof is in the video, I suppose! I know he was happy. But now maybe he knows why I am continually asking him how he feels. He has a poker face a lot of the time. I, on the other hand, am way OVERLY expressive. I was barely standing still the whole ceremony... partly due to my happiness, and partly because I was trying not to throw up. Yeah.... But it was neat seeing it, and it confirmed that my romanticized notions of the ceremony were, in fact, real. It was everything we both wanted. I can honestly say I loved every single bit of it. :) The only bummer about the video is that he missed me telling the congregation that Jon had shaved. He caught everyone laughing though, so that is all that matters.

This week....

Pancakes wheeee! Hehe!

Dog shows crack me up, too... but I've never been to one in real life.

Speaking of dogs, you'll get to meet Ginny and Watson while rehearsing for L&D's wedding, yay!

Good luck with all your work and tell Jon to stop playing poker so much.
