24.5 weeks?
At this point, I feel like I have sort of lost count as to where exactly I am in this whole process. :) In the past few weeks, he has been quite active and making his presence very well-known! The past few days have been a bit more quiet and subdued, but it is probably a combination of getting bigger (a little less room to wind up for the punch??) and me being so busy that half the time I barely even realize he is wiggling around in there.
Two weeks ago was Spring Break. It was really REALLY nice to have a week off, though it was incredibly full. We hired a painter to paint the baby's room and our bedroom, as well as the hallways. The hallways have high ceilings, and we simply did not have the equipment to do it. He did a great job, but what he thought would take 2 days ended up taking 4. :/ That means I had to linger around when I wanted to get other stuff accomplished. Still, it was fruitful. By the end of the week, I had chosen a carpet contractor and picked out carpets as well.
Bye bye bank account....
Two Sat's ago, my hubby, brother, and a friend pulled up the carpets in all of the bedrooms, leaving the bare floorboards. We also moved any last odds and ends up into the top floor loft. Basically it looked like this in our house:
Basement ~ hoarders (we have 3 couches down there, random bookshelves which are half empty due to being partially moved up to the loft, random table, and christmas decorations sitting about)
Main floor ~ pig pen's home (there is a fine layer of dirt, grime, and construction dust covering nearly everything, not to mention stuff that needs to go on a different floor but cannot)
Bedroom floor ~ abandoned house (carpet tack with nails sticking up all over the place, random bits of large furniture, dust dust dust)
Loft ~ hoarders (since we sold our bedroom furniture about 5 or 6 weeks ago, our clothing has been in small piles all over the place. It has been joined by more clothing, random furniture, books, shelving, etc. etc. etc.)
It has made me feel a bit stressed and antsy, to tell you the truth. I have a certain threshold for disorder, and it has been surpassed.
However, the carpet guys were there yesterday and will be finishing up this morning, and so far they have done a fantastic job (from what I can see). Our bedroom furniture came in, and that will be delivered on Friday, so that means Sat is going to be an awesome day of cleaning and putting stuff back where it belongs. Then maybe I can relax and start thinking again about this whole baby thing. :)
I think next on the list is trying to find some furniture for the little dude. Plus we need to make some sort of registry, which involves research, apparently, on all the latest safety issues and guidelines and all that sort of stuff. Boring! Sorry, I just cannot get into reading reviews.
Anyway, things are going pretty well, though I am starting to feel my weight a bit more. I am not sure exactly where I am at right now - maybe 135? Getting in and out of the car is... different. Before I got pregnant, I was between 115-120 on any given day. Plus yesterday was our first hot day - it was 85 - and my ankles and legs got swollen! Ugh! Too soon! That does not bode will for June, July, and August. Oy. Cankles, here we come!
But I would have to still say that overall, I am still pretty good at being pregnant. The bulk of the time so far has not really been that bad. I know, I know, I still have 15ish weeks to go, things could certainly go downhill. But I feel positively about it, and that seems to make a big difference. Maintaining inner peace about this whole crazy thing has been important to me, and it has helped.
