someone should have told me

Someone seriously should have told me that teaching was going to be difficult. I thought that once I had made it thru the illustrious C-ville that most things would be smooth sailing. I was wrong. The first year of teaching more or less stinks. There are some highlights, and I am trying to focus on those... for example...

• the girl whose parents were late picking her up after school and she actually WANTED to come hang out with me until they got there
• the girl who asked me if she could come eat lunch with me so that she could get my advice on something
• the kids who continually suprise me with their genuinely creative ideas and thoughts
• my giant room
• the other teachers, who are some of the best people I have ever met
• the paychecks

I think I will just stop there. I would start in on the bad and frustrating things (teaching 3 subjects, having no curriculum for TWO of those three subjects, havent signed a contract yet, etc etc) but I think that would just be a downer.

In other news, which is, in fact, a downer... Ethan decided to take the job in Orlando. sigh. He moves at the end of the month. double sigh. I am not really sure if I mentioned that in my last post or not... ive been rather distraught and upset over it all. But, again, trying to look at the positives... he has every other Friday off, so we should see each other at least once a month, if not twice... and we are both making enough money that flying and buying tickets wont be an issue... I am also going to go down there for spring break and we are going to go to disney world. :) Plus he is going to send me flowers now that he has money. :) And care packages containing the OCD stuff that I love such as post its and sharpies. Man I love sharpies. Its bad.

So... currently I am procrastinating. I am trying to get my biology lesson plans for NEXT WEEK done before I WORK AT THE HOSPITAL this weekend. What was I thinking? I really should have quit outright. Ugh. And my dad and brother and upstairs watching Sister Act. All I can hear is la-la-la-la-la-la. Why didnt I teach music? You pick 6 songs and you just teach them all year... none of this bit about a bajillion topics you have to "cover" or "else". okay... getting negative again. time to get back on task so taht I can go to bed. deeeeamn.
