my friends rule!

A big thank you goes out to all of my friends for today! I was both suprised and excited. Six Flags rules! So thank you to Jenny, Paige, Brian, Les, Josh, Matt... and last of all Aaron and Jenn, who seemed to do the most planning... especially Jenn. Shes the bestest bf in the world! :) I am lucky to have you guys.... and here is a short lil list of my favorite parts of the day

1. how excited you were to suprise me
2. waiting in line for Superman. yes, waiting sucks, but its soooo much more fun with you guys, esp because we played games the whole time
3. stuffing Brian, Paige, Aaron, Jenn, and me into 1 log at the log flume. it made me so happy!
4. going on medusa twice because there was no wait
5. checking out the anime hair and park-specific clothing such as crocheted tops that you can completely see through

And here is my list of annoying parts of the day

1. people who use their little tiny brother or sister to cut in line
2. being sweaty and stinky
3. the rain
4. should I even start to explain that rain + wind + dust = coughing + snot + crying + painful eyes + hiccups?
5. the sun coming out on the way home
6. being duped by Matt. sigh. :)

Anyway, thank you guys so much, I love you lots and lots and lots and lots. It made my birthday extra special and I love amusement parks anyway. I guess it sounds gushy, but I really do have the best friends in the world and I am so glad that we have been friends for so long. Thank you to Jenn and Les for my presents... I LOVE THEM. (The shirt fits, by the way, albeit tiiiiiight) It was a great day, and I cant imagine it being much better unless I had goggles to protect my eyes from the various crud flying around in the air at the park.

Friday

Today was a pretty good one overall... and here is how I spent it

I woke up at 10 and raced to coatesville... it was more or less my kids last day and I wanted to stop in and say hi before the summer. it was awesome because they were like YAY Ms.SAMUELS IS HERE! So that made me feel pretty good.... Some of the guys had to get those last moments of hitting on me in.... and I signed several yearbooks. It was just really cool. I am so glad they liked me. I wish I could know them more, or better. Very awesome kids.

After that I came home and changed because it was HOT and I went over to pick up Josh. He gave me two awesome books for my birthday and they look absolutely hilarious.... and I wont say anything about the fact that he should not be spending money on me for my birthday. :P
We went to Marsh Creek and threw around my awesome aerobie frisbee for about an hour. Some dude joined in for about 20 mins. He was pretty good.... but he told me that I grip like a girl. Um, duh. But I understand what he meant. Josh also taught me how to catch with one hand and I got to practice that lots. I felt like a crab trying to snatch really quick with my claws. It was fun. We also got to interrupt a couple who was making out because they were scared that Josh would throw the frisbee too far and I would run into them with it. mwa ha ha

After THAT I came home and my parents left to go to dinner... and its fortunate that I did not go because I was soooooo sick. I think it was the salad from Cosi last night. blurgh. Lets just say my stummy was not amused.

Then I went over to the in-laws house (my affectionate pet name for the Metsgers, not that I am even remotely close to getting married) and they took me out for dessert at Brickside to celebrate my birthday. Ethans mom, who sent me two cards last year on my birthday, said that one of those cards had to count for this year because she did not get me one. I was okay with that. Shes very cute.
When dessert was over, Carin, Andrea, and I went back to their house and watched Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. mmmmm vertical sex. :P But seriously, dancing is so awesome.... and maybe its wrong of me, but I LOVE dancing like that. Just feeling the music, being close to your partner... its just really fun. I think it makes my top 3 list of ways I prefer to get sweaty. That aside, my desire to go dancing has been refueled and I want to sooooo bad. Dont get me wrong, I love classical dancing with actual steps... I adore swing.... Salsa rocks my socks.... But just dancing.... And its awesome when guys can dance. Its a shame that gay men are... well... gay... because they are the only males that seem to know how to dance sometimes! sigh. I need to dance.

So now I am home, still puzzling over what tomorrow will bring. Its getting late though and I need to be ready at 8, though im sure they will be late. I am excited... it will be a blast hanging out with my friends. For once, my birthday feels pretty cool.

Happy Birthday

Today is my birthday and I am 24. Basically I am sick of OpenDiary, so I decided it was time to jump on the bandwagon and start an official blog. Yippee.

It was a pretty good day, all said and done... I spare the details of the birthday blues I seem to come down with every year. 24 seems like a good number.... 24 hours... a full day... and I suppose if I want to get all philosophical, it is like a chapter in life. 24 seems like a year when you are supposed to get your act together. By the time you are 25, I think youre supposed to have some sort of clear direction in life. I have always had several directions... and hopefully I am narrowing them down.


So here is what I want to do with this year of my life.... we will see if it happens


1. Get a job. A real job. A career job. Everyone I know has full time jobs... and while I dont envy them necessarily (I adore my freedom), it would be nice to have a decent salary and not live paycheck to paycheck. Hopefully I will find a teaching job. And about 120 kids to call my own. And make them love biology. mwa ha ha.

Plan B: If number 1 does not happen, I would like to work at the hospital and sub for half a year, take that money, and go to africa and volunteer there for awhile. I have always wanted to go, and it seems like the perfect time given my lack of ball and chain

2. Do something physical. get a gym membership.... or start taking karate. I know I am a small girl.... but it would be awesome to be tiny and able to kick your butt.

3. sing. sing, with your head up, with your eyes closed. not because you love the song, because you love to sing, because you love to sing. ~copeland Singing, paramount in my life, is just not something I spend my time on as much as I want to. I dont know how its going to happen, but I really want it to. Part of me is missing when I am not singing. All the things I think of to describe how I feel when I sing, or how important it is to me sound cheesy... So lets just say that I am a lesser me when I am not doing it.

I think, overall, these are three pretty reasonable big goals for the year.




Here are some smaller goals that I would like to accomplish:

1. win lottery
2. buy sweet cars and houses for myself and everyone I know
3. find husband
4. get married
5. create world peace
6. teach lily to hunt deer instead of voles, mice, birds, and rabbits






And some more random things I would like to do:
1. make new bookshelves for my room. I made one set, which I absolutely adore. I put up shelves in my room also... and then I went more girlie and make some scrapbooks, a comforter for my bed, and most recently a very cute purse.... but I am ready to get my hands dirty again. Bring on the table saw.
2. get rid of like 35% of my junk.
3. go to goodwill, buy awesome hilarious clothes, and go bowling in them with my friends
4. go to marsh creek and watch the sunset
5. go dancing, or just having a wild and crazy 80s dance party with my friends
6. get out of the freakin country. or go west. either. I dont care.
7. play on east wards jungle gym at night with friends
8. watch the stars
9. give lily a bath. mwa ha ha
10. get a facial. I SO want to get one.
11. watch all the star wars movies
12. go to camp! ( I know I will get to do this one!!! )
13. camp out
14. get professional pictures taken... my mom never got graduation pictures from psu... and I look horrible in every picture... so it would be kinda fun if someone took my picture for real
15. go rock climbing


so those are some things I would like to do... we will see I guess what happens. there are 23 more minutes left to my birthday... almost time for bed. I am going to pop into school tomorrow at c ville and say hey to my kids and steal a bunch of science worksheets from my co op... should be a grand ole time.
